2000 Sport - No tilt steering?
I have been looking at getting a Dakota for a long time now, finally found a really good deal on a 2000...went to look at it today, but there is no tilt for the steering wheel.
Is this normal in the '00 sport editions? Is it a big job to take it in and get tilt installed, or is there a way to manually tilt the steering wheel up yourself? Its just a few inches too low for me, if I could raise the wheel a little bit it'd be perfect.
Also, it does not have the flare kit (no flares around the wheels), its got real thick sport tires and would look awesome with them on...can those be purchased after-market, and does anyone have a clue how much they are?
Thanks for the help.

well not so sure if I can answer all your questions, but to the best of my knowledge once a tilt, always a tilt, and vice versa meaning you may be stuck in that sitting formation. You could try playing the the position of the seat or how u sit while holding the wheel. As for the fender flares (I too think they make the dakota, a dakota) you can buy some cheapy bolt on one's from Summit Racing (which btw is about 8 miles away from me ) or you can get in contact with mopar accessories via DODGE WEBSITE and look under mopar. hope that helps a lil

According to the dealer when I got mine the fender flare's will run you nearly $500 plus painting and install.
I'd go with some aftermarket.
Swapping tilt steering in is possible, but it involves taking out the steering column and putting a new one in. Not easy or cheap.

UNUSUAL.... is all I can say about no tilt. Does it have cruise? if so it's gotta have tilt.....the actuating lever is down on the left, tucked in the column, it's kinda flat and you pull it down. Mine came without flares and I prefer it that way only because it's just another spot for rust to build up. It works good because the factory rims on mine have no offset so the tires don't stick out(31x10.5s). Bushwacker flares in black would look sharp I bet.
