Unhappy 5.7 block swap??

Can anyone tell me for sure if a hemi block from an 07 Aspen will swap and can be installed in place of an 04 hemi? My 04 sent a rod to the outside of the block about the size of my fist.
Thanks.

Im not 100% sure about it cause one thing I do know is the 07 hemi's had mds where the 04's didnt. So im sure you would be throwing some codes and it might not even run right or at all for that matter. Ask this over in the ram section they will be better help

If you have an 04 Dakota, you don't have a "hemi"

OH S**T!,Sorry, I posted this in the wrong forum!! It is a Durango Hemi. The OE part number for the block is #5139102AA on the 2004 and #5139102AC on the 2007. It appears that the timing chain, head gaskets, rear trans mount, oil pan and crankshaft are the same exact part numbers for both years. The camshaft numbers are different, which is what i would expect because the 07 is the MDS setup. The only other concern i have would be the 2 main motor mounts, they are differernt numbers from 04-07 but that could be how it mounts to the chasis not the block, not sure. Anybody else

I am told you will have to use sensors from your existing block and swap it on to the newer one. You can leave the mds unplugged from what I have been told because you wont be able to plug it into your harness anyway. If I were you Id try to do a google search before you get locked in with that motor.

Angry Omg!

I wish I had seen this before I tore mine apart...but I will for sure check this out before cranking the key with the new engine!!! The D would always sputter in the car wash and i figured it was water spray coming from underneath being forced up in a way that just driving down the road wouldn't happen. The night before mine puked it sat outside at my daughters university and it rained 2 1/2 inches all night long. My daughter went out at 7:00am th leave for coffee and hit the key and it just popped instantly!! Thanks for the update. Chrysler said they have "never" had this problem and mine is 6 months & 10K out of warranty and they won't even consider any goodwill assistance, even partial. Simply amaizing what info is available when you look.
