Default 2000 Dakota not turning over-help

I'm stumped on this one. I have a 2000 Dakota 4.7 that will not turn over. I had a similar problem before and that was fixed by replacing the starter. I put in a new starter, the battery and it's connections are good, the starter relay is good, fuses are good. I turn the key and I hear the fuel pump and relays engage but nothing from the starter. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You may have bought a bad starter. Take it back and get another.

I'm not sure if that's the case. In the past, it has been progressively worse to start the truck and replaced it. That did the trick. In this case, it was all of a sudden the truck started one minute and the next nothing.

You hear the relay in the PDC clicking when you turn the key to start? Check fuse #9, it's a 40 amp in the PDC, it feeds the starter solenoid.

Do you hear that click? It'll be loud.

It's not unheard of to have the battery terminals fail internally. Check for power at the starter itself.

My buddy got me a wiring diagram and that's funny because it agrees with what you mentioned. It actually happens to be slot 8 and it's a 50amp. Straight jump from the positive cable starts it up. It also turned over once from neutral once. This leaves me with 2 options. The ignition switch or neutral safety switch. Thanks for the help but I'll let you know what I find out.

Does anyone know where the neutral safety switch is located? I got a treaded one for a 3pin connector. It matches the close up pictures that appear just on top of the pan but I'm not finding that. An overall picture would be most helpful.
