You can also bend the ends of the terminal apart and file down the inside of the terminal until it can get a good purchase on the post. Just make sure you use a well chalked file so your teeth don't clog.

Glad your problem turned out to be a simple one! Always good to see that...

I installed the shim on the positive post, tightened her down good and all seems well. I also hand wiggled the positive wires and the lights did not go out. Thanks for all the input, gang!
