This is my Review on the Chevy HHR Fan Mod.
Truck: 1997 CC 5.2L 4x4
Therm: 180
Fan Used: AfterMarket Fan for 2007 HHR.
My opinion
Please read full detail) I will be looking for a better/bigger Fan and shroud other than the Taurus Mod as I want full shroud coverage and I'm not about to loose my AC...

I'm all about provided the best information I can; I know the feeling of doing something and it not being what it was supposed to be.. that's why some of the posts I make i really question people's feed back hard to try and get the best information out of them.
I will be blunt and honest in this topic so that others can really know whats the "Know" about this Mod.
First let me start out saying that I live in Texas. Yesterday it was mild and about 75-80 with fair humidity so its not like i was testing in 90-100 degree weather YET.
First let me tell you that I was not really impressed by this fan over all. As some has already mentioned it does not quite cover the full surface area of the Radiator. I have almost a full 4-5 Inches of radiator that is not being covered.
Second. I am running strait power to it with a toggle switch. I tested with leaving the fan running full time. NO off/on except when i parked somewhere and shut down.
Once the truck got to 180 (Where the temp would typically sit normally with the Fan Clutch. I went ahead and took her out.. drove 2 miles to the Gas station and let her Idle.
Temp stayed I would assume about 185(ish) a little warmer than the stock fan/Clutch.
Driving.. the temps climbed about I want to say 190ish. Under short hard acceleration. (Not alot of air coming through the rad so this is critical test for stop and go traffic)
Temps stayed around 190ish.
Went and parked and idled.. I want to say the temps climbed to about 195.
I shut down and went into a store for a few mins. Came back and fired up. By this time the temp is a little over 195-197 after sitting there off.
Kicked the fan back on, started truck.. temp came down about 195ish.
slowlyyyyyyy... came to about 190*
This fan simply
A. does not cover enough surface area.
B. running full blast I think a cheap box fan pulls more air.
I'm not impressed by this MOd at all; and honestly I do not really look forward to seeing how poorly it does in Texas Heat.. esp. in traffic.
The Fan clutch pulled more air at IDLE than this fan... and Cooled the truck down under acceleration all the way (depending on how hot it was out side) to either back at 180 or at least 185-190 range.
So even though this MOD seems to keep the truck at an acceptable temp (for now) I'm not too confident on a hotter day or in stop and go traffic where the stock fan clutch could only keep temps about 190ish untill some rpm could increase to pull some serious air.

You can get some great low priced ones at about $70 or less.

I had to go to my aunts house for a bit and really it kept the temps at a moderate level.. pretty much with this fan with it being in the 70's somewhere it stayed about I would assume 185..
I can tell you though sitting in traffic with 90-100 degree heat and high Humidity... this Fan is not going to cut it..
Thanks for reading.. I hope this helps ppl make the right choice.. Ill be looking for something better thats more of a fit.. that gives best bang for the buck hopefully.

Did you take those pics with a potato? lol I have a 99.00 cannon powershot from samsclub takes good pics for a cheap camera. Been dropped many times, sat in 2in of water for 3 hrs and still takes great pics. Anyway should be good with that setup might get a bit hot sitting in traffic with the ac on but as long as it stays out of the red it will be ok.
