Default Rpm's jumping around and almost dies

So the last 2weeks I've been noticing this problem. When I'm driving and lets say I'm coming up to a red light or stop sign I'lll push in the clutch and coast up to it. When the rpms drop back down to an idle with the clutch pushed in it will drop down to about 400 rpms then jump back up to about 6-700 rpms it does this about 2-3 times then stays at steady idle at 600 rpms. The truck did die on me once this way but it started right back up and had no other problems on my drive that day. Ive also noticed that sometimes my truck idles around 600 rpms and other times 900rpms I thought that was just ecu adjusting but maybe not. I'm not sure what to make of it. I'm thinking a vaccum leak somewhere or a bad sensor of some sort but I dont know where to start.

My truck kinda was doing the same thing. But my throddle body was not pulling the cable back enough so I'm just replacing the whole intake manifold but that's just me I couldent figure out the problem my self

It wouldn't hurt to start by cleaning the throttle body. Take it off the vehicle to do it. You'll be amazed at the cr*p that builds up in the IAC passages.

I'm gonna take the throttle body off this weekend and clean it. And I wouldn't think that its the throttle position sensor because there's no fluctuation in rpm's while I'm driving and I would think there would be if it was that sensor but I'm probably wrong on the assumption.

Thanks for link but to bad it wasnt for the 4.7. I went to get a haynes manual today so i have back up just in case and they had 97-99 durango/dakota books and 04-06 or something but not the years in between. I think i should be able to get through without it though. And if the iac sensor isnt to pricy im gonna replace that right away

Try this link. It's sort of a mix of the 5.2 and 4.7 throttle bodies.

It's not difficult anyways.
