Default That’s about correct 4X4 cost more

That’s about correct 4X4 cost more you may get it a little cheaper but you want the best mec. when it comes to a trans shop and a 4X4 shop that knows your trans.

As I said call the 4X4 clubs find a good shop

Default Don’t go super cheap

Don’t go super cheap on http://www.car-part.com/ they have a rating system try and get one rated A and spend the extra money think $500 or $700

If you go to cheap you may end up with a garbage trans and waste your money and time

Be very careful these places will not refund most things you get from them you buy you keep you lose if not the correct trans.

let me rephrase this, my question is can i just eliminate using 1st gear and just start out in 2nd and baby the clutch without much wear on the clutch?

back to the subject found this ebay tranny

http://www.ebay.com/itm/AX-15-AX15-J...6e6ce8&vxp=mtr

and a clutch kit off of rockauto, would that be sufficient?

i apologize for sounding like a ******* but im pissed of the whole situation in general.

YES just baby it

back to the subject found this ebay tranny I would not know but it is for a 4.0 engine and will be geared differently and may mount differently also.

If you get the correct trans yes but it’s a pain in the *** removing a trans. be sure you want to do this it can be done just be sure you have a few friends to help out and a week to do it in.

Also beware the AX-15 in a 2WD is different than a AX-15 in a 4X4 the way it shifts is my understanding.

It all depends upon how you start off in 2nd as to how long the clutch will last.

You also said you have a noisy 5th. The transmission isn't going to get better. Start saving for a tranny, you'll need one eventually.

Check around at the boneyards though. Many will warranty a part.

Default Must be diff in AZ

Must be diff in AZ here you buy it its yours that’s it.

I look in Craig’s list all the time and they have these trans listed all the time I’m sure they are from a trans shop or junk yard but that’s it.
