Default Blower resister

2003 Dakota 4x4 4.7 engine
Please help
Blower motor fan not working, checked all fuses, replaced resister and harness, (noticed burn mark on one connecter) and still does not work, could it be the motor itself, also before this started when I adjusted my steering column the fan would quit, the steering column had to be in a certain position for the fan to come on.

THX

Tilt column?

You probably have a broken wire in the column to the ignition switch.

on older trucks i had fail, ignition switch contacts, fuse box, wires burn. i have had to wire around fuse boxs. ignition switch A/C contacts buy using a relay to take to load. just get your VOM out. dorman has a great crimp er #86263. get it at auto zone, or advance auto

Yes it's a tilt column and found I wasn't getting any power to the fan, I will check in the steering wheel column and look for any broken or melted wires. BTW what is the purpose of the resister and can it be by passed?

Well I looked in the tilt steering column and couldn't see any broken or melted wires, getting frustrated may have to bite the bullet and take it to the dealer

You'll need to chase wires, with a meter. I don't have access to an '03 wiring diagram so I'm not sure if this will help.

You can test the fuses and motor by testing for power at the dark blue w/yellow tracer wire to your blower motor resistor. Make sure the key is on obviously. If you have power there, it is not a feed problem.

The resistor is on the ground side, so showing 12v says everything else is good.

For '01, there is a red with light blue tracer, that's the feed into the ignition switch. Then there is a dark green wire (no tracer), that's the output. These wires are dedicated for the HVAC. They feed no other circuits.

The insulation on the wire itself is probably intact. It'd be the wire itself that failed.
