Default Dakota 2004 - Vibration Problems

Long time follower, first time posting.
I just changed the rotors, pads, and tie rods on my 2004 Dakota 3.7 V6.
Truck runs fine but it vibrates when I barely touch the brake pedal. If I apply more pressure the vibration goes almost away. Any idea on what it could be?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Tony

loose brake pad. no brakes = floats, full brakes = pushed into piston/seat, partial = bouncing around.

We had this problem on the camaro when we first got it, the outside pad would go in fine, but would pop out of it's place and sit skewed...gouged the rotor and sliced the pad at a 30 degree angle.

If it was a warped rotor, it would do it at all times

Magnethead thanks for replying.
Will work on the truck this weekend. Any tip on how to identify a loose brake pad?
Should I look for any particular sign of wear?
Thanks.

Dakotaguy1994,
Correct me if I'm wrong. I believe the Dakota has upper and lower ball joints right?
Would you change the lower ball joints first or the upper ones? Or should I change both at the same time?
Also is an alignment required after changing the Ball Joints?
Thanks.

First the pads need to snap in a good loud snap I’m wondering if you forgot one of the retaining clips that hold the outside pads.

On ball joints all at one time and yes you will need an alignment

Sometimes if my truck is not used for a few days my brakes will do this the first few times then be fine.

TonyDi

Are your calipers the dual piston type if so you may have a bad piston on one side?

I’m not familiar with the dual piston calipers but that makes sense to me.

I know it sounds silly, but have you tried rotating your tires?

Did you do the back brakes as well? Drum or disk in the rear?
