transmission problem

You are much better off with a dealer filters. Especially in light of what's going on.
Watch what you're reading for units of measure.
The rear (9 1/4) takes about 4.9 pints or 2.32 liters. An 8 1/4 takes 4.7 pints or 2.22 liters (about 2.5 quarts).
The front holds 3.5 pints or 1.66 liters (1.75 quarts).

Thanks for the info on the filter and gear oil...I'll be at dealership in morning to get the filters...regarding the gear oil you're correct on the amounts....but I was only able to get 2qts in rear and one in front (took the rear apart... but suctioned out the front) what a pain the front is....Once I get the new transmission filters replaced I'll re check the diffs...Thanks again for the info...Lee

Well I finished replacing both filters and and now the CEL has come on and I still am unable to engage the transmission! There was a slight leak but tightening the pan bolts resolved that on Friday night. Is there a way to check codes without a computer? Had a Dodge Neon before and I was able to turn the key a couple of times and based on the number of times the engine light flashed that was the code.... I can not remember the sequence though....other wise I need to tow the vehicle to the shop on Monday...$$$....thinking this was a mistake and should have brought the vehicle to dealer like the wife said...LOL...

obd 1 code says 12 flashes battery disconected in last 50 key on cycles 11 flashes means no camshaft signal or timing belt has slipped so nothing to do with transmission. I had a problem like this with an intrepid turned out trans cooler had leaked and drew in coolant destroyed torque converter and all the clutches
