I think I see something but better let Dan get it done.

Lets just say if you pulled the CD player from a 2000 Durango things would go back to normal thats my guess

I put the casette back in because the digital display on the Durango CD player went dead. The original radio/cassette is back in.

Did you do any splicing into other lines at all?

All this happened at the same time as the change.

I bet we find the problem or I should say Dan will.

No splicing. All just plug and play. But there was the ground wire from the truck that did not have a place to plug into the Durango CD player.

Talk about putting me under pressure

The dome light is run by the CTM. Either the headlamp switch or the door ajar switches can trigger it.

The dimmer isn't part of the CTM. A rheostat controls the voltage to a number of the lights, the sheft bezel, ashtray, and also to the instrument cluster.

It sounds like the radio was the trigger here. Just swapping radios should not do anything. The connections are identical and there are grounds in the connectors.

The radio and the door ajar switches (for the dome) do share a ground. G203. I attached a diagram. It's on the RH side of the instrument panel. I'd check that ground carefully.

Im guessing that is now gone removed or not connected to anything now?

Fiddling with that may have roached something but Im just guessing you could have cooked the CTM
