Master tech - thanks for your thoughts and expertise.

I am looking into getting it done at a shop. Though the overhaul looks like it would be cool project, it looks like getting it in and out would be quite a bear given my resources. This discussion appears to be about my same engine and transmission - http://www.dakota-durango.com/forum/...ad.php?t=93690

What do y'all pay for a overhaul or Chrysler refurb transmission?

I had the transmission in my D rebuilt for just over 2K
That was with a new toque converter and electrics.

I think the going price is between 2 to 3k. But it depends on the shop labor. If you did your own repairs, it may get to 500.00.

I am buried at work right now, but I think it would be a really cool project. Without a garage, transmission jack, etc. I will probably end up taking it in.

Quotes are coming at 1800 without a new oil pump and torque converter. 2800 with them. Sounds like it is in the ball park y'all are saying.

I assume that I should probably do the oil pump and torque converter while I am in there... I think i will start a new thread on whether or not to ask them to put in a shift kit.

Thought I would come back and give you all an update. I found a local transmission shop with an experienced mechanic. He suggested that we replace the governor solenoid and a sensor before we try a rebuild. Cost about 125 in parts and 75 in labor. Just had to remove the pan to do it. Everything is working great right now. I will keep a close eye on it for the next couple of weeks.

Thanks to all for your input, very much appreciated.
