Drive shaft failure doesn't seem to be that common, I would try a junk yard.

I was thinking that but they don't warranty any parts and I don't know what condition it is in

It's a driveshaft. There really isn't that much to it.

Replace the u-joints, that's a given, and you're good.

Or, take your existing driveshaft to a driveline shop and get it fixed.

The gears in the rear end are broke? Or the ears of the drive shaft are broke? Nothing can go bad on a driveshaft other than broken ears or bad ujoints either way it will be visible

Can you post any pic's of this damage because there is nothing inside a drive shaft to break as dodgeramguy85 says the damage is on the ends.

Is it a 2 piece shaft is that it?

Post a pic or two please

The only thing to snap, crackle and pop under/back there is the diff with drive axles. Perhaps the wording is a little off.

OP, is it the rotating shaft you can see under the truck or is it in the rear axle where you can't see it rotate?

I suspect it's the differential and thus the concern of getting one at the scrap yard. We may find out soon enough!

The only thing inside a drive shaft will be card board or foam. Other than that nothing inside the shaft is broke. I would look a ujoints and inside the diff.
