Default Not A Dodge But...

My dad has a 1997 f150 and the windshield wipers don't work right and no fluid will come out of the nozzles. Can I get some help for a Ford?

What you will need is a 5 gal gas can and a flare... lol seriously tho it might be the switch. I would try to hot wire the sprayer and wipers to see if it changes anything.

Well we need some more details.

When you activate the switch, does the fluid pump make any noise? If yes, then the nozzles may be clogged. If no, then try to force a current and see if that works. If not then the pump is probably bad.

The pump does not make noise. I tested the power with a test light and there is no power to it. The wipers work. The lines are not clogged. How do I force power.

Me and my uncle were messing with it because my dads birthday is coming up. When the multi function switch is depressed the wipers come on like they are supposed to but is doesn't spray. The pump way trying but nothing happened.

You sure there's fluid in it? Check it, sometimes small things are overlooked.

If there is fluid, check for any breaks in the line. Have your uncle engage the pump while you watch the line to see if it is spraying out anywhere.

Yes there is fluid and no breaks in the line or clogged.

Then either you have a bad pump or a bad switch. I don't think the pump would run on a separate fuse, but I suppose you could check.

The washer is on a separate 'relay' than the wipers but the relay is good. We already had that narrowed down to either the pump or the switch but I forgot to mention it. Auto Zone has the pump for $17 so I could just throw a pump at it. I'm not sure if it's the switch though. When the switch is pressed there is a delay where the washer should spray and the pump tries then the wipers come on.

Disconnect the wires at the pump, then, connect 12 volts to one side and ground the other. You should hear it run. Worst case, it'll run backward so then swap the wires around.
