Default Overlooked Maintenance Issues..?

Hey guys...

My DAK has almost 180k miles on it, and my wife is going to have to take it this weekend for a business trip. Our other car is a Natural Gas car, and there aren't any CNG stations around the city where she is going to work. So, today, I tackled some of the maintenance stuff that was due, and some of the stuff I had been neglecting. I did the oil, spark plugs, tire pressure, checked trans level (manual), checked diff level, and cleaned the throttle body for the first time (YUCK!).

Here's my question: I have until about 2pm tomorrow to repair some last-minute items. Anything else I should do between now and then? I'm thinking I'll do the fuel filter, and windshield wipers because we might have some rain coming. What else?

How are your rad hoses and how old is the antifreeze the S-belt ok?

Fuel filter is in the gas tank so thats out new wipers would be good

Thanks for the advice, man... Funny you mention the rad hoses; I just blew the top hose a couple weeks ago. Both of those got replaced already. So, unless they have an "infant mortality" problem, I think I'm okay. I can't believe they went 179k miles!

Sux about the fuel filter. Between the fuel pump/filter, and alternator, those are the items I worry about the most. I have never had to replace them. I mean, how much longer can they really last, after 10 years and the equivalent distance of 3/4 of the distance to the moon!?!?!?

Check the back brakes make sure they are adjusted not too tight though maybe just click them in three or four clicks just to snug them up a bit.

Or if you trust yourself crank them in snug then back them out a few clicks you dont want them too tight as the may start binding on you/her if you understand how to back them out that is this can be a hard thing to do.

Thanks. I think they're okay but I'll give them a look. I had to replace a pair of e-brake shoes not long ago because she left the e-brake on, so I replaced the whole unit. I'll remind her again to not drive with the e-brake on.

Don't forget the rest of the cooling system hoses, including the bypass hose if you have one.

Yea the heater hoses

I finally replaced them on my Dak just last year they were 14 years old but looked ok when I pulled them off still flexible not rotted like I thought they would be. Kind of weird as I have changed the top and bottom rad ones three times already but I had new heater hoses so I changed them.
