I fit 285s stock by trimming the front valance and a little on the inside of the fender. I cranked the tbars just enough to level it. I wouldnt go over a 1.5" block as that is what i have now and i have the reindexed tbar keys. It will still sit a hair lower in the front

Hey DakCC4x4, you said you fit 285's with just cranking the t bars? I need new tires and have 265/75-16 right now and they only rub in reverse which is weird. I am thinking about going up to a 285/75-16. My t bars have not been cranked so I am not as worried about the fitment, I'll cut plastic if I have too, and there is rooom for days on the rear. My question for you is what motor do you have? Did you notice a difference in how the truck drove, and what kind of fuel economy decrease if any at all?

285/75-16 is basically a 33. Stock height, the body will rub regardless of torsion bar cranking. I drove for one day with the 33's on and destroyed the tread so much, not to mention my wheel well and front bumper, that I bought the body lift. Sure you can drive straight with 33's on a torsion crank only, but turning is a whole different story.

This is based on 285/75-16 Yokohama Geolandars, stock rims, and 1.5in wheel spacers.

I have the 285/75/16 on the stock wheels on my 2002 dak with no rubbing at all. I did crank the torsions and added the 2 inch blocks in the rear. Mine is a regular cab 4x4 5 speed. My buddy has a 2002 dak ext cab and did the same lift but had some rubbing issues with the same size tires. Not sure if because mine is a regular cab that its a little taller? We parked side by side on level ground and mine was only about an inch taller maybe half inch. Not very noticeable.

that's the same truck i have!! reg cab short box 5spd 3.9.. it look's like it's hit or miss on fitting those 285s... i would like to just crank the t-bars and be done with it but i'm thinking of ordering a pa 2" body lift just in case....so the triming.is it just plastic or is there sheet metal that needs to be trimmed?? i plan on running the stock wheels with no spacers...

vtlogger, thats awesome! You should post some pictures of it, especially when you get it done. I would say crank the t-bars, and do the blocks. Then youd be fine. My friend who has the ext cab just had to trim the plastic fender well, used snips. only had to cut a small section out and his are fine now. Luckily, I never had to trim mine. I will say though, with his truck having the 4.7, it rides better than mine does having the 3.9 because of the weight of the motor. So I'm planning on ordering a set of the longer shocks that are meant for the 2-3 inch lift for our trucks. I have a few pictures on here of the truck if you want to see what yours will look like with the lift and tires.

I added blocks but ended up removing them. Even with cranking my t-bars the front would only lift up enough to level out with the rear.
