Default Manual window problem please help. Pictures*

So I need some help/advice with my drivers side manual window. I went to roll my window down the other day and it must of been froze and the window came off the track. I finally got around to fixing it today and somethings not right. I can get the window back into both the clips on the track but when I roll the window up it doesn't stay in the groove like it's suppose to. I can get the window all the way closed but then if I go to roll the window back down after about a 1/4 way down it gets tight and the window comes out of the black clips again. Is there anyway for me to tell if the scissor mechanism is bent or am I just missing something. I'm pretty sure that I have the window where it needs to be in the black clips, and I also tightened the 2 nuts on the clips so now I don't know what to do.

I just did this not long ago, same situation as you.

My window popped off the rail at a drive through (to being frozen) and when I went to fix it whenever you rolled up or down the window the window would pop off its track.

See if you can push the window down gently while rolling it down and if it doesn't come off then its most likely the black clips not catching.

Mine would be in nice and tight (or so I thought) and it would pop off. I ended up just applying some PL700 caulking in the window track and then glued the window in. Worked like a charm.

If that window ever breaks though I'll be having fun with a screwdriver chipping it away!

Yeah I'd rather not glue it just in case something would happen. It also looks like it wouldn't be any fun trying to get that whole scissors mechanisim out of the door to replace it. Right now I have the window in the the track and rolled up so I know the windows not gonna fall down. I just can't roll my window down.

It's not all that bad to replace, I had to replace mine. I have a brand new manual window rail for the drivers side window, I'd be more than willing to sell it to you for cheap. I had bought the wrong one and then forgot to send it back and got stuck with it and I have power windows so it doesn't work for mine. PM if your interested

My understanding is replacing the complete system is easier than you think as you can’t just replace individual parts of the system it’s all or nothing with these

It is pretty easy to replace, you just work it out through the large hole in the door. I had to replace my power window one when one of the rollers broke.

yeah they usually just replace the assembly and window as a whole. I had an intrepid that this happened on and that's what they did. I've seen on the net that it can be glued back on with special glue from the dealer

So I should be able to get that whole regulator out through the big hole in the door? I just wanna make sure cause with the shaft the window crank goes onto I dont see any other way for it to come out. And of course my haynes manual doesn't help. It says remove bolts and remove regulator from door. Not much help to someone like me that doesn't know what they're doing.

My 2001 Dakota with electric windows did the same thing as yours. You need to glue the window into the track. That's how it comes from the factory. I had Speedy Auto Glass do it. They said they see it all the time on Dodge trucks. I wouldn't replace the entire window assembly/regulator. They just marked the window as it sat in the track, then they pulled the window and regulator. Cleaned the glass and used some kind of window/glass glue. Let it sit for 24 hours (rolled up) and haven't had a problem since. That was probably 3 - 4 years ago.

My two cents.
