Default 4.7L to 5.2L conversion

My 4.7L is about to die after a 1/4 million miles. I kind of want a conversion to 5.2L crate engine. Is it possible?

Or is it cheaper to buy an older dakota and put a new crate engine in?

Why not put a new engine in your current ride?

One problem with the 5.2 swap is that it didn't exist in '01. You'd have to swap harnesses and get a custom flash based on the 5.9 PCM.

Well I was thinking new engine but I'm stuck on how to put a hemi in. I dont know quite how to and what the price is. I'd love a hemi though

The HEMI swap isn't too bad depending on the model and whether or not its a 4x4. I'm just finishing the swap on my 02 4x4 Sport and I'm loving it so far!

Yeah read up on some of the Hemi swap threads before you decide. IMO I think it would be dumb to go back to "old technology" for the same amount of work possibly.

You would be better off going with a built 4.7 since thats what you have now. 5.2 has the same power and gets worse mileage. You would save tons more money going with a 4.7.
