Default 8 or 10 ply??

Hey guys, im getting new tires for my truck and the guy from the shop wants to sell me load range e(10ply) over load range c(8ply). Hes saying theres no difference besides they will last longer. Ive done some research and found there to be a stiffer ride but some will say theyre better for off roading because of a less likely puncture rate. i dont do much off roading but just want to see if anyone else runs a 10 ply tire on their dakota and if theres any problems of benefits

I run 10 ply tires on mine, but only because that's what most tires in my size (LT315/75R16) are. They are definitely stiffer-riding than the 8-ply (Load range D) tires I had before, and WAY stiffer than the P215/75R15 tires the truck came with. In theory, the 10-ply tires are tougher but I've never really had problems with flats, so I can't say for sure.

BTW, I only run 35psi in them, so it's not the pressure that makes them ride stiffer.

I ran 8's on my dakota. There is no need to run 10's on a dakota its a bit overkill and the sidewall will be pretty stiff!. I only run 10's on my cummins and thats what they call for a 2500.

I run 10 plies on mine(Kelly Safari TSRs) and they are noticeably stiffer than the 8ply ATs I had on it before. I run 35psi and these tires take a beating offroad with no flats. They "seem" tougher overall but are definitely heavier. I wouldn't let the plies be the deal breaker on a set of tires, especially 8 vs 10

well i meant 6 or 10 ply and im going with the same model tire either way i just didnt know if itd be a good idea to put a 10 ply on a v6 dakota when im going to be using the truck for 75% street and probably 25% off road.

Get the 6-ply. You'll be happier.

So for every 3 miles you drive on the road, you drive 1 off road?
