Question Factory Rear Anti-Sway Bar?

Did the second generation ever come with a rear anti-sway bar from the factory? I don't believe 87-96 ever did so I am climbing the generation latter to find and adapt one at a fraction the cost of an aftermarket rear bar. (possibly Durango?)

Does a rear bar even make a noticeable difference with an empty bed??

Does anyone know if the rear axle width is the same between an 87-96 and a GenII? If so then adapting the bar won't be much of a PITA.

Why do you want a sway bar? The ones from the 8.25 axle should work(97-04)

Take a look at this. Might help

I did read that, I would have to flip it and mount it to the frame with the link ends connected to the shock mounts. My truck does not handle very well I'm after a sport car ride or as close to it as I can, I hear a rear bar may make it oversteer though which I already do but that is because I do not have a front bar right now.

I dont think its gonna improve much. You really cant have a truck that has a sports car ride. Hows your shocks? A good set of them can make a big difference.

The sway bar that came on the rear of my truck was about as thick as a pencil. I noticed exactly ZERO difference when I took it off and threw it away.

My 03 QC 4x4 has a rear bar and I just replaced the end links with the Moog links. It seemed to make a difference but I think it is in my head because I know I spent the money and replaced them.(they were really loose and making a clunking noise).
The clunking noise is gone.

Brand new $10ea shocks so they suck, I know a front bar is going to help tremendously. You can make a truck ride like a car, you just have to sacrifice payload capacity.

I'm thinking the rear bar is mainly for a fully loaded box however on small trucks I have read they make a bigger difference with an empty bed if the truck is smaller because the suspension is softer. I will have to see how she rides after 4 Bilsteins and a front bar but it is good to know they are stock if I need one. They do sell aftermarket rear kits for the GenI Dakota so it must make some sort of a difference?
