I took 2000 dodge dakota in for MVI and needed gas tank straps.Had garage install new straps yesterday but ever since they completed the work on the truck it will not start.Turns over fine but will not run unless I keep foot on gas. What might they have done when they dropped gas tank?? I have to go back and was hoping for advice 1st.

Have them check the fuel pressure. Possibly the pump is going out, they damaged some wiring, or kinked a fuel line.

Sounds like you need to run ASAP from this shop.

It could be many things did they suggest the straps?

Give a very detailed explanation of everything happening to start

PCM is your computer

How's the battery and alternator? Our trucks HATE low voltage and will die.

The truck was running perfect and I mean perfect.I had motor vechile inspection and the gas tank straps and rear shocks failed so I had new ones installed.I picked truck up and went home.Got up next morning to go to work(battery is bran new) and turned key the truck started then instanly died, tried again, turned over nothing. So I kept my foot on gas peddle and it started right up.Headed out drive way and as soon as I took foot off gas to stop died. Now when I come to stop sign or red light it dies. Not every time but most of time. Some say its the ditributor cap/others fuel filters. and on and on.So I am at a loss to know next step with out spending a fortune.

What engine do you have?

The fuel filter is in the tank. I'd be checking fuel pressure at the rail to find out how the filter/pump are working.
