Default Stalls when turning left

My 16 year old son was given a 2000 Dakota regular cab by his Grandfather three weeks ago. Since he got it, it has been stalling 2-3 times a day, and every time it has been while taking a low speed left turn. I can even force it to stall by coasting through a left u-turn. I cannont force it to stall turning right or going straight. After it stalls, it won't start for two or three minutes. It will turn over and over, but not start. After waiting for a couple of minutes, it starts up perfect.

When it stalls, I can turn the key off and back to the II position and hear the fuel pump prime.

So far, we have removed and thoroughly cleaned the throttle body and replaced the IAC valve.

Filled entire tank with 92 octane fuel and added STP injecter cleaner.

Seafoamed. 1/3 in brake boost vacuum line and 2/3 in tank with 8 gallons of gas.

Air filter is clean.

Transmission fluid is correct level.

Some things that I am considering:
Fuel pump/filter
Camshaft position sensor
Vehicle speed sensor
O2 sensors

Can anyone offer any advice? I did use the search tool but couldn't find anything about stalling related to turning.

Thanks
Rick

Have you tried clearing the computer? How just pull off the neg battery terminal for a minute or two put back on.

But I think it may be a trans problem something I don't know others can help on that.

Another possible cheap thing to try is replace your water temp sensor it can cause weird things to happen to your truck.

No problem codes

Hi and welcome to the forum!

I really don't have enough experience to help too much, but I think this question will be asked pretty soon.

Have you tried giving it gas with foot on the break, to keep the revs up preventing the stall? I think trying that and sharing the result will be helpful.

Also, let us know how it performs in reverse, left and right turns.

Good luck!

It's going to be fuel pressure or fuel electrical related if it's when turning left. I've seen fuel pump ground straps become corroded and do funny things.

Also a very small chance that it could be steering related, if there's something afaoul in the rack causing the power steering pump to load up the engine. But you can just that just by turning the wheels while stopped.

I second the electrical related as a possibility poor ground or lose ground.

The power steering is also a possibility but you should kind of feel that in your steering is it harder to turn to the left?

Jack the front end up then start the truck. Try turning the wheel and see if it stalls. If it does, check the steering shaft to see if any harnesses are rubbing up against it, under the dash and under the hood.

Thanks for all of the input. I will try to answer as many questions as I can and check some of the others tomorrow.

I have had the negative terminal off several times.

Have not checked the water temp Sensor, but it was very low on coolant if that matters.

No codes.

I can prevent a stall most of the times by slowing down before the turn and accelerating through. It will only stall if my foot is off the gas. As long as RPM stays up, it is OK.

I have not checked fuel pressure at the rail yet, but I did pick up a fuel pressure guage at Freight Harbor today. Probably hook it up tommorrow.

It will stall in reverse if the steering wheel is turned to the left. Figured that out backing in to a parking spot.

Have not checked any cables under the truck. Haven't thought of that.

Steering is equally free from stop to stop.

Did not think to jack up the front end...

I did notice a tone, probably the pump running, that seems louder than i think it should. Not all of the time though.

Thanks

jack it up and slowly turn it from lock to lock. Then go quickly from lock to lock.

I really think it is steering related, but fuel pressure will be the tell-tail. Just screw it into the port and zip tie it to the hood or something.
