Default Speedo not working

hi there, the speedometer in my 01 sport 4x4 is stuck at 200km/h. everything else in the cluster works perfectly fine, just the speedometer...thinking it is the speed sensor. can someone link me a website/part so i can get one, thanks. I'm from Canada so anything Canadian would be really helpful!!

Before you buy the speed sensor try a cluster self test.

With the truck OFF, press and HOLD the trip odometer reset. Turn the key to RUN (not start) while continuing to hold the trip reset. After about 10 seconds, you should see CHEC in the odometer window, release the reset button. All the gauges should sweep and stop at 3 locations.

It'll also test the bulbs in the cluster.

Okay I'll try that! So if it doesn't move does that mean that it needs a new speed sensor?

No. If it doesn't move it means there is a problem with the cluster.

Try the test first.

A boneyard is a possibility. The cluster is a computer itself. You may have to have some features reprogrammed by a dealer with their DRB - such as lights for cruise control, etc. You might have an issue with your mileage display as well.

okay, so the cluster works fine. i did the check and everything is working. i changed the speed sensor, and still nothing, so my last variable is the harness going from the sensor right? or maybe a fuse that i dont know about?

Where there any numbers in the odometer window when it finished the test? Like 920, 110, or 999???

The bad news is that it is unlikely that it is the sensor or the harness. If it fails then there is no signal, the speedo should read 0, not 200. Basically it would be the same as if the truck isn't moving.

The rear speed sensor feeds into the CAB, controller anti-lock brake. From there it goes to the PCM and the cluster.

I don't want you to throw parts at this by replacing a speed sensor that may not be faulty.

i just replaced the speed sensor in my truck... its manual so i get away with driving alright but apparently in the automatic vehicles when a speed sensor is not working it also tends to make you not shift right. and i THINK.. it might help the engine stall when slowing down when its manual. (not sure but my truck is doing that) the sensor i replaced was faulty so i need a new one but i have 4 error codes showing because of it. but as i said before i did list where you can get it in canada and how much
