Default ABS and brake light on

What would cause the ABS and brake light to come on? Fluid is full and I see no leaks underneath? What do I need to check for,as I need to have my only vehicle on the road?

Edit just found a leak on the inside of the right rear tire.....

I'm guessing this will help you out... It's a RAM, but is probably close enough in my first search.

Knowing how to search is half the solution. Using the quote marks: "changing rear wheel cylinder site:dodgeforum.com"

Google search is much easier than the search on our forum.

Good luck!

If it is a wheel cylinder they aren't hard to change BUT the hardware can be very corroded. Soak the wheel cylinder bolts and the brake line with penetrating oil overnight if you can. Use a line wrench on the fitting (has more flats).

You may end up changing the shoes if they're wet.

so you now know what it was..I would have never guess it to be a wheel cylinder..Why would that cause the light to come on? My light is on as well...Has been for a long time..

A failure in the base brake system will trip the ABS and BRAKE warning lights.

If the ABS light is on you can get it scanned.

Start off with a thorough examination of the brake system. How are the shoes/pads? Is the pedal firm or does it "sink" to the floor? Is it pulling? Do you smell "burning" from any of the pads.
