If you are going to put a 4.0 tb on this thing don't forget to do these things before you install the manifold.

1. Use a file to widen the manifold opening as the 4.0 throttle body needs it as you can see by the gasket.

2. Look into the manifold for any sharp points and smooth them out like blueprinting the manifold.

3. Optional and doesn't help anything but gives you some peace of mind is flip the manifold over and braze that port shut so you never have a problem when that silly plug falls off. I say upside down so no brazing material falls into the manifold. Or better remove the brass port braze it then put it back on with some sealer so you have no air leaks.

An 4.0 tb from 1998 to 2002 it must have a MAP sensor on it the older ones don't have the MAP and will not work.

The stock air hat fits like a glove same size

Bigboi,

Sounds like an awesome build. Are you going to be upgrading the fuel system too? Bigger injectors and fuel pump?

As 98DAKAZ has said, the 4.0 tb is a great mod. While the motor is in the shop you should have them PnP the head and intake manifold. This improves engine response and revs quicker.

The roller rockers are great, easy install and well worth it, especially on the top end.

The banks header is nice, fits snug with the stock downpipe. If you want you could do a custom 2.5" downpipe. Sounds and feels great.

Hesco use to make a camshaft for these motors, the RVOB4. It's a good cam, but you can also get one custom grind for you application and needs. Call Crane or Comps, will be pricey though.

Also, along with all these fun toys are you going to use an SCT tuner or get it Dyno tuned?

Good luck with the build. These little motors can be torque monsters if built up.

00daksport25 has done many of these changes to the 2.5 engine.

On the ignition I have done 3 things Accel 8 mm wires love them but you can get better the Accel Hot coil and Bosch Iridium fine wire plugs with a little wider gap I use .040

One note the coil needs a wire adaptor this sucks but is needed. $30... this sucks

I recommend a new Distributor Pickup Coil keep the old one as a spare.

A warning get a quality cap and rotor as the cheap ones are very bad look for long rotor pickups inside the cap.

rockauto part #

AIRTEX / WELLS Part # 5D1108A {#F994G} Premium these have the copper contacts excellent cap

SCT Tuner??

My current Machine shop tab is $213, i dont know what a PnP would run me, Wouldnt a 3 angle valve job be better than PnP?

DAKAZ, do you have part numbers for the wires and adapter, possibly a recommended source?
