Default California vs. Federal Emissions.

Trying to buy an o2 sensor here but apparently there is a difference in each emissions standard.

I'm in Canada, but my Dakota has 2 cats and 4 sensors.

Does anyone know how I can be sure which ones I need? Checked my build sheet but nothing of the sort is mentioned.

Thanks

Your dealer can get the correct one for you

Actually there are/were 3 emissions packages available.

NAA - this is the two O2 sensor package - Federal.
NAS or NAE - these are the four O2 package, one of which is the California spec and the other is required in various jurisdictions.

There shouldn't be a difference between the NAS and NAE 02 sensors.

Don't get Bosch, Dakota's hate them. NTK was the OEM supplier.

this might help. if your state sniffs the pipe, i read a tip. run the tank way down, then spike it with 3-5 gal of methanol. it will pass inspection but run bad.

I wouldn't dope it that far. I have a methanol injector in a throttle body spacer on mine, and I can definitely tell when i turn it on at idle. I have it metered to help the top end, and it lumbers down low.

New 2013 they are doing the OBD2 test so of your CEL is on for anything you automatically fail. Even if its not emission related.

Crock of sht if you ask me. Luckily my CEL is on just for my o2 sensor.

same here. Mine takes about an hour to come back. So i just clear the codes with my SCT then drive in.

Apparently the status of the emission system has to be ready too, so clearing your CEL or unhooking your battery will not work. They'll auto fail you.

They've been doing the OBD2 test here for a few years now, I'm fine with it. It's quick and easy compared to the sniff test.

Yup, if it's not ready it's an automatic fail.

Not exactly. Here in texas, you're allowed 3 "not ready" and still allowed to pass. All three of mine are emissions related. LOL
