Default My new daily driver !

Just thought that I should drop by and say hi !
My new daily driver is a regular cab 1999 dakota sport with the magnum 3.9 and 5-spd. I took me awhile to find er' I insisted on having a manual (which seems to be rare in cars up here in michigan).

The specs are nothing special really, A specter cai, and a thrush welded muffler. Oh and a decent sound system with a 300 watt amp under the driver's seat, upgraded door speakers and a 10 or 12 inch sub (not sure which) that i added after i bought er'. She kicks pretty good haha I also recently added some red interior led strips.

I do have a question though, I think there is a hole in the exhaust, I was wondering what I should replace the exhaust with ? Right now its just stock tubing with the thrush welded muffler wedged in there. haha.

Be sure your manual trans fluid level is ok and that it doesn't need changing I'm not sure on the oil you need most on this forum will inform you what oil you need.

As a temp fix I think most stores sell a pipe fix/patch

To bad most exhaust place prices have jumped up so very high it used to be a cheap thing to get done now its very expensive to get any exhaust work done last time it cost me $1200 just to replace everything cat, muffler and all piping WOW.

One of the old Midas muffler places didn't charge me anything just to re weld a hanger that snapped so when I went back not knowing it had been sold to new owners that was my Hugh bill.

Wish I knew it was not the same owners before I dropped it off.

yep, it's gotten stupid.

Almost better/easier/certainly cheaper to get some sheet metal and a hose clamp or 3, and simply patch the hole.

Depends where you are and who you have do your exhaust. My 5in pipe for my truck from the front the whole way to the back only cost me 350.00. Thats straight pipe but its also 2.5in bigger than the dakota system and cant be done at a normal exhaust place.

You must have been lucky and found an old shop with the old prices as that's what I would have paid back 15 years ago.

Lucky man you are

Well the exhaust finally came undone today. She honestly sounded pretty decent with no exhaust. But I noticed the huge lack of low end because of it. So I'm definitely getting some new tubing put back on it. I think exhaust cut outs are in my future. Hah.

Oh I forgot to ask. What size is the stock tubing 2.25 or 2.5 ? I can't remember.

I'm pretty sure it's 2.5. I had a foot of pipe after my cat and that was it. Didn't seem any different power wise
