What is this so-called "death flash" I have been hearing about on the 4.7 Dakotas? Someone please fill me in...

 

its a secret button thats under your dash. and when someone cuts you off for example you can activate the "death flash" button, then hit your long lights and PUFF! that person is gone! awesome huh? No dude seriously i have no clue. Anyone else?!??!?!

 

I heard it may be the 5th gear flash on the 45RFE's, which I have, but I don't see whats so deathlike, but the source I got it from isnt exactly the greatest, hes more into the Jeeps..

 

Oh nevermind. Its a flash they did to stop some ticking noise, I guess its the cams at startup when cold... I have this issue but I just rev it up and its gone, so whatever...

The Ram death flash was supposed to take care of detonation by pulling timing, and it sapped a lot of power and people were pissed, Dodge's answer was to buy the mopar performance ecm. Not sure about a Dakota one though.

 

DAN what is the 5th gear flash for the 45's about? Can you tell me more [:-]

I think the death flash only affect 98-01 rams.

Apparently not, the Dakotas had the same issue I think...

the death flash was a way to stop the ticking of the motor. so dodge jacked with the compression ratio a little bit through the pcm. the death flash can be removed by getting the pcm flashed(pretty expensive). the death flash hurt the truck through the low rpm range. if your truck has the flash it will be posted on the upper radiator mount or on a box on the passenger side inner fender wall. if you do have it somewhere it wil say pcm adjustment or something like that, im not quite sure on what it says.
