Default what kind of performance chips

hello,
I have a 2000 dakota 3.9L SLT and was looking into getting a performance chip. I heard alot about the EDGE chips and i saw that they are universal but i was not sure if they are decent for my type of truck or if i should look more into one that is more meant for my truck?

Chips are useless. The ECU will just recurve around it. A chip wil be great for a short time, and then it will just go back to normal.

The only way to get gains that will stay is to reprogram the computer. I'm sure that almost everyone here will tell you that an SCT tuner with a tune from hemifever is your best bet.

I don't know how much he does with the 3.9, but he has a very good reputation.

Sct for the dakota. Sean and hemifeaver does a great job at tuning for our trucks.

so i am lost in this whole description with the SCT. on the SCT site it says i can only use SCT X3 3200 but in the link that you gave me from Hemifever they have stage one and stage 2. Stage one they are saying its for headers or cams and stage 2 is for turbo or supercharge. I don't have or using either of these opitions and dont know which tuner to get. Also do i still need to purchase the tune still with the turner?

I'd just email him and ask. He usually responds pretty quick.

I had a JET Chip 1st in my 5.9 and now I use the SCT tune by hemifever. I would have to say that the SCT tune is way better than the JET Chip

I Believe the JET chip cost like $75 less than the SCT tuner, but i believe the SCT is better and it also acts as a code reader for CELs
