Hi, Welcome to the forum!

Is it leaking through the sensor? When you put the new sensor in don't twist it, rock it, or you can damage the o-ring.

The other possibility, check your power steering pressure switch. If they fail, and they do, they can force oil into the wiring harnesses. Usually it shows up at the 02 sensors or the PCM.

It sounds like a defective sensor. Maybe try another brand.

If you still have oil leaking though the sensor then it's either bad or damaged in some way. What brand are you using?

Question

00DakDan I think you misunderstand him from what I get from the post he wants to understand why if you remove it the sensor is covered in oil the sensor part?

A strange question if he understood what the sensor does and its environment.

Never heard of them.

For most things on the engine NTK or Denso are preferred, like O2 sensors. If you can't find them, go MOPAR. Yes, you may pay a bit more but you won't likely be changing it twice in a year.
