Default So what oil change interval are y'all running?

My last oil change was in March. I'm running Pennzoil Platinum full syn (5W-30) with a Purlator pure one filter.

The oil has stayed pretty clean and is a dark honey on the stick. I am going to run it to 7,500 miles before switching to Pennzoil's new natural gas syn with Bosch distance plus filter. I'm currently at 6K.

Just wondering what OCI you guys are running and what type of oil.

I change mine every 3000 miles. I am old school and set in my ways. I have been using Peak conventional 10W30 for the last year or so, I picked up about 15 quarts at $1.87 each last year when Dollar General had a BOGO deal on it. Prior to that I used Quaker State conventional. For the first few years I owned my truck I always used Valvoline, Napa or Carquest house brands but noticed more engine noise with those as my truck got older and accumulated more miles. I think Quaker State and Peak both have better additives for older engines. They both have a good dose of Molybdenum which is a great anti-wear agent, and they have a good amount of Boron which is good for engine seals. Moly and Boron both help my old truck run quieter and smoother without causing any MPG loss.

I run 4500-5000 miles with Mobil Super 5000 and a Mopar filter.

It's been like that since new. Almost 140k on it now with no problems.

also old fashioned here, 3k miles on oil changes , castro gtx hi miliage 10w30 with a K&N filter.

oil is cheap insurance and never had a oil related failure in 40 plus driving years,

im changing ever 3k on this one simply because she had 150k on it when i bought her, on stuff i run with less miles is full synthetic and even then i change ever 5k

Running full syn you are wasting money changing it before 8k. My dad runs full syn mobil 1 in his 4.7 grand cherokee and runs 12-15k intervals. I ran syn blend in my dakota and ran about 4-5k

Yeah, of the used oil analyses that I've seen, 7.5 - 8K is usually when the oil just begins to degrade. My Accord's manual says OCI is 10K, but I stop at 7.5K, even with full syn. With this truck, I don't know. This engine probably beats up the oil a lot more than my Honda.

Even though I run full syn, if I have to top off, I use Pennzoil YB. Guess that makes it a high synthetic blend. LOL

3K is overkill these days unless you are using the cheapest oil out their.

You cant tell by color anymore

On the Dakota which hardly sees more than 3000 miles a year I do an oil change of 10w30 conventional in the summer, and right before winter I switch to 5w30 conventional. Overkill? Maybe

On my Mazda I run 5000 mile intervals with Mobil 1 Synthetic 0w20.
Overkill? Yeah probably Lol.

Oil is cheap tho! But I beat on my vehiclea.

My older, high mileage vehicles I use dino and change 3000 miles/3 months. My newer vehicles, 5000 miles or 6 months, full synthetic. Overkill maybe, but its peace of mind for me.

<<<@!1!@>>>

I'm at around 254K on this Dakota. The owner before me wasn't really versed on checking oil. I could tell by the glazed dipstick with the dirty yellow handle and the fact that he had to search for the hood release. I run high quality full syn to fight any sludge issus. I once debated using a motor flush, like Gunk... but it's running good and I don't want to dump a load of sludge in the sump.

Wish I had one of these....
