Blown Blower Motor Control Module

Blown Blower Motor Control Module
My 2004 Dakota keeps blowing the Blower Motor Control Module / Resistor. I have replaced the connector to the module but it is still blowing out. If it look at the module the #2 pin is blackened. same on the harness.
Do not know where the short can be or where to even start. When I replace the module it will work for about 3-5 months, then go through 1-2 months of intermitten failure before failing completely.
Any thoughts?

If your 2004 is the same as my 2001 the blower fan circuit is fused in the PDC with a 40 amp maxi fuse. Really nothing short of a dead short is going to pop that fuse. I always wondered about it myself, it's not like the OE blower fan moves that much air to begin with. I get a much stronger air flow from my aftermarket blower fan anyway. If yours is drawing 17 to 19 amps or more with the fan on high speed, it is drawing too much current and replacing the motor and resistor should fix it for good. I used Factory Air brand parts on mine, replaced both about 3 or 4 years ago and have had no problems at all with it since then.
