Default Cruise Control?

whenever i put my cruise control on 65-70mph my RPMs shoot up to 3000 and stays? is that a trans problem?

What happens at 65-70 with it off?

The cruise control just works a servo to move the butterfly. The linkage for the gas pedal and cruise work the same butterfly, no difference there.

Are you saying it downshifts when you turn the cruise on?

How about let's see what might be dirty... RPM's should not shoot up like that; unless you are on an uphill.

no it shoots up to 3000 and stays there. i dont know how long it would stay but it stayed for about 10 seconds before i turned the cruise control off because i thought it was a problem.

The RPM's shoot to 3000 but is the truck accelerating or is it holding speed?
