i already have 2 inch blocks in the back, so a shackle flip will get it up to about 6 inches?
Yup.

Leaf springs are much easier, but will ride a little rougher. Probably the easiest way is to use a Ford front end with the factory radius arms and fab some coil spring mounts, but that won't be the best for flex.
how much harder would it be to use a waggy front end. can i use an '80 waggy front axle?
It's still pretty easy. You just have to make some kind of a front crossmember for the leaf spring hangers and figure out the shackles for the rear of the springs.
I'm not a waggy expert, so I'm not familiar with the specifics of different years, but if it has a left side pumpkin and no central axle disconnect or anything, it should work. My axle came from an '83 J10 pickup, if that helps.
What truck is your axle out of?
And what is a crossmember what is its purpose?
Also, an axle disconnect?
Mine is from a Jeep J10 Pickup truck.
The crossmember is a structural piece that holds the stationary end of the leaf springs.
Some front axles have a 2-piece shaft on one side with a mechanism to connect and disconnect it. They're often found on vehicles that can shift into 4x4 "on the fly" and they are not nearly as desirable as axles with locking hubs. You can see them on these axles.
