Dont feel bad.. mine lasted about 20K magnaflow its still working i can tell by the smell but i got the efficiency code.. i tab with my fist on the casing and it sounds like i can hear the core bouncing a little like the packing came undone..

I have the 5.2L though and im having my plate and gasket fixed.. incase that is what caused it but the cat is not clogged though that we can tell lol.

So i know your pain and frustration.

If it is brand new, send it back. Or, re thread it.

It's not a Bosch O2 sensor is it?

Use only an NTK sensor and only copper core plugs, autolite 3923 . Anything else and you'll be wasting money, time, and chasing your tail making the CEL go away.

Sounds like you have a clogged cat and possibyly a fuel pressure issue?

IDK about those 3923's ... I tried them in my 318 and it was really smooth idle for like the first few miles.. but was like the truck got castrated.. put back the copper core autolites for the engine and ran good again.
