Default 2000 4.7 Turns Over but wont start

My 2000 Dakota 4.7 cranks but wont start. My cheap code reader shows "linking error". Odometer window show "nobus" . I replaced the PCM and nothing changed. No spark. Noticed that my rear 02 sensor is clicking and getting warm when I turn the ignition to on position. Also, my fuel gauge quit working. Don't want to change fuel pump out as there is no spark anyway. Anyone have any ideas before I start spending $ at dealership that I cannot afford. Thanks!

No bus means the cluster isn't talking to the CCD bus. It may be a bad cluster but more likely it is something killing the CCD bus. It could be any of the modules, ABS, airbag, CTM, etc.

The fuel gauge is driven off of the PCM, all the gauges are. Was it dead before the "no start?"

Check for 5 volts to the cam and crank sensors, the orange wire, pin 3 is the +. If they short out they can take down the PCM.

Thanks Dan. The fuel gauge worked before the no start situation happened.

I'd start with the cam/crank sensors. "No bus" problems can be a PIA to chase down.
