Default 2001 Dakota PCM fuse

Hi all,

This sounds like a basic question, but I cannot find the PCM fuse on my 2001 4.7l SLT Dakota. I have looked in the fuse box under the hood and to the left of the steering wheel. Neither have it labeled.

I want to pull it to reset the computer. I had a common problem on here which was the Brake Control Module went out- so no ABS and the annoying parking brake and ABS light were always on. While the brake control module was out I got a speed senor code which I need to clear. I know I can disconnect the battery but now I really just want to know where this dang fuse is! Also does this actually clear the code from the history or do you need to clear it with a code reader for that?

If people need their brake control module repaired I had a good experience with

http://circuitboardmedics.com/

I called a few places and they had the best and knowledgeable customer service in trouble shooting and didn't charge until they examined it. Then they fixed it for $99 plus shipping and problem solved.

You will still get a speed sensor code if the pinion factor is not set....assuming that the people wiped the ABS module memory. The ABS module has to be able to read a PCM VIN on the BUS to apply the setting.

It's done with a DRBIII. I have no idea if generic scan tools can do it. I'm behind the times concerning aftermarket tech equipment.

I contacted the Company that did the repair and they said it was a board level repair and they did not reset the memory or touch anything with the pinion factor. So this is a simple clearing of codes. I would prefer to pull fuse, but I still can't find the PCM fuse. Is there not a fuse for the PCM on this truck? I'll just pull the neg. battery cable for now.

ABS modules are a very common problem on many vehicles. The solder joints need reflowing on the circuit board. Not very hard to do yourself if you have a soldering iron and some 60/40 solder.

Not sure about a fuse, I am new to Dakotas. Best way to find out things for yourself is to get a wiring diagram.

Go to Reillys or Auto Zone and borrow their code reader and clear the codes yourself.
