Default 1999 Dodge Dakota V6 no start, help.

Hello. I have a 92 Dodge Dakota 3.9 v6. My head gasket blew. I had to buy a completely new cylinder head. Bought new gaskets. I have since replaced the battery, ignition coil, distributor cap and rotor button, also replace my spark plugs (and gapped correctly) and wires. I also had replaced the vss, and air control valve. There is no spark coming out of the distributor to the spark plugs. When trying to turn on my truck the fuses click, it's getting fuel but the engine just whines, doesn't actually turn over.. I am at a loss. Someone help, please!!!

While cranking, do you have 12 volts STEADY at the dark green with orange tracer wire at the ignition coil, pin 1?

The coil is wired hot. The ground side is switched by the PCM.

I'm thinking failed ASD relay.

Thank you for responding. No not 12 volts steady. But I have replaced almost all my relays.. So your thinking the auto shut down relay?

Or the PCM.

I keyed in on the : "When trying to turn on my truck the fuses click, it's getting fuel but the engine just whines, doesn't actually turn over.. ". The clicking is probably the ASD and/or Fuel Pump relay, I think. The whine sounds like the starter isn't engaging the flywheel, especially since you say it doesn't actually turn over. There will be no spark if it's not cranking.

So what, you thinking starter or flywheel?

If it whines and does not turn over, pull the starter and check it out....a few bolts. Disconnect the neg battery terminal first. Most likely the solenoid rather then the flywheel.

Post ditto

The starter solenoid has to kick the starter gear into the flywheel.
