Default NV 3500 transmission questions

Okay guys I wanted to ask do any of you have much experience or knowledge of how the nv3500 acts. I got one fully remanufactured and it just seems like it whines really loud as u increase speed in 2nd mainly. I'm just wondering everybody's thoughts on this transmission. I used to have an ax15 but went to a nv3500 for handling extra power but I'm a little concerned as to what is right and wrong with this transmission bc im not familiar with them.

I've had the NV3500 for 17 years. No whine at all. It shifts nice and tight too.

What kind of fluid do you run in it??? I just am not very impressed with how noisy the tranny seems to be. It's still under warranty and I'm wondering what normal operation feels like usually.

From the FSM:
Required lubricant for the NV3500 is Mopart Manual Transmission Lubricant, P/N 4874464. This is the only lubricant to be used in NV3500 transmissions.

That's all that I've used.

Okay that's the same stuff that I put in it when I got it. The people that remanufactured it said I could just put 5w30 engine oil in it but I decided to put the factory stuff in it. I don't feel that it is very smooth to shift into mainly second. Especially when cold it's really rough. Idk whats causing it to have the extreme whine that gets pretty loud as u speed up in second. After second gear u don't really hear it.

sounds to me like the synchro bushing isn't fully releasing or the gears aren't perfectly aligned on the shift rails.

i was thinking that it had something to do with the synchro bc I mean ever since I put it in it has done it but within 700 miles second gear has gotten rougher to shift into. And the whining is still there.

Could be a damaged gear causing the whine.

5w-30? There is no way I'd put any engine oil in my transmission unless it was spec'd. It's not just the viscosity that matters - it's all the additives such as detergents. You also don't want the oil to foam.

Funny but the with the AX-15 on many Jeep forums they recommend 5w-30 engine oil for winter and Redline MT something for summer cant remember. I used Mobile 1 75-90 the stuff everyone says dissolves the syncros for 10 years now no problem.

Crazy the amount of bad or incorrect info is on the internet
