Default Lost passenger control of power windows

Just thought I'd ask before digging into this. All passenger controls are not working. Driver's master works fine on all windows. I've googled it and it seems people have changed out the switches (master and passenger), with limited success. This includes the master lockout. Some other possibilities too, but nothing definitive.

Anyone find a solid fix for this issue or a truly common cause? I'd rather not go part swapping just yet.

Do you have a meter?

Pin 8 on Connector 2 of the power window switch is the lockout, yellow wire. It should be "hot" when not locked out.

Thanks, Dan. I will check that. If it's not hot, what is the solution, replacement of the switch?

Yes. It should be hot, at the drivers door. That feeds the other windows.

There is a thread here somewhere that shows the very likely problem. The childproof switch on the drivers door goes bad effectively killing all other window control except for that door. You can pull the switch and do a jumping out of it with the proper connections and magically your problem is solved. I had troubles with mine on and off and stumbled across the thread. I did the magic and the passenger window has worked fine ever since. I think it required one or two jumpers, real simple.

FOUND IT!

I was thinking about also jumping the switch.

Thanks guys. That link didn't have the steps, but it led me to finding this... https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...r-windows.html

I will pull out the switch and try cleaning it first. Will also see if I can pull out a few at the junkyard. The jumper will be my last option if nothing else works.

Your choice, your truck, but the problem is more common that you realize and unless you feel the need for the childproof switch, the jumper method is a simple job that won't be a problem later on. Replacing a switch is only going to lead to replacing it again in the future.

Understood. I do have young children riding in it now and then. Thanks.
