Flywheel Part Number 4.7l
This should be a simple answer yet, I can't find a definitive one. What flywheel does a 2000 4.7L Dakota with NV3500 use?? Every parts website I've looked at either does not show one or shows flywheel shims (Rock auto). As I haven't ripped into it yet, what flywheel does this model have!

I would call to be sure its the correct part for your 2000 as all these say 2001 I checked on a dealer web it says no longer available thats not a good thing.

Yes, same thing I have encountered. It looks as though the the 2001 flywheel is the same. Although rock auto shows the clutch for the same trans as being 11 7/8 for 2000 and 12" for 2001. However, I imagine that if I ordered both a clutch kit and flywheel from 2001 they would work together.... Might have to wait until I get in there to take a look.. Unless someone else has encountered this.
Be cautious I dont know the particulars but they made changes from 2000 to 2001 regarding the tone ring on the flywheel in regards to engine timing.

interesting I looked on carpart.com for a used 2000 4.7 manual flywheel and they listed some 2002 and up years and they usually know what year parts cross reference that can be used or interchangeable with each other.

The tone rings on the 4.7 are internal so no problem with the flywheel.
I got my clutch parts from the dealer. Figured the first one lasted so why not another. Besides, they go by VIN so I know they fit.

But why all these parts suppliers only list 2001 and up is weird even on ebay all 4.7 flywheels list 2001 and up you try the compatibility checker for a 2000 and it tells you no will not work on a 2000.
But I have run into this many times with my 2.5 engine they list it the part compatible for a jeep but not the Dodge Dakota 2.5. The engines are the same their are small differences but the same engine. you must have the same years 97 to 2002 that is what you need to be careful with the year is the deciding factor.
