2000 dakota spare tire carrier winch

it looks like the cable broke.i was wondering if the cable can be replaced on it or you have to get a new one,and is there a special tool to crank it down or up? thanks

The tool to crank it up down should be in the bag with the jack handle. It's a couple of sections with a square drive.

You have to replace the entire winch if it fails.
