Morning guys new member looking for parts help. I have a 1999 Dakota 2.5l 4 cylinder. Motor mounts are showing discontinued and no luck sourcing so far. Any leads would be appreciated.

 

If you can get the part numbers, do a google search on that. Generally turns up something, even if it is ebay/amazon.

Yup tried google and eBay with no luck. Now contemplating a bone yard search.

 

Paging @Dakaz ... the mounts surely still exist. Maybe under a replacement P/N. I assume you checked with the dealer?

 

An image of the motor mount would be a good thing to post, and any numbers you find. A quick search and I've found several on ebay and a couple on summit for the 2.5L I4, but I can't suggest any since I don't know which is needed.

From these images the hole pattern looks about right, just reversed how you have them sitting, but that's just from what I can see. Can't tell any of the real dimensions, but they're just cast differently. Looks like probably they sent you the mounts for the 3.9L. I know the 2.5L didn't sell a lot in the US, so junkyarding will likely be moot, but it never hurts to look (always find something neat). The 2.5L was more common in south america as I recall. Maybe see if you can press the rubber out of the new ones and into the old ones if they're the same size?

 

Yes what they sent me was for a 5.2 not a 2.5. Was so excited when they said they had them in stock. Must have said at least 4 times " are you sure its for a 2.5L". At any rate sent them back. Bushings were not the same size. The triangle part was correct but the diameter and width were bigger. Called up summit with no luck. They referenced me to motor mounts applicable to a 2.2 and 2.5 but they don't look anything like what I have. Am thinking they might be for the first generation Dakota. Did see an anchor motor mount (ANI 2918) for a 3.9 and the Bushing "looks" like the same. I may buy it and if it is the same remove/replace the worn bushing - nothing wrong with the metal portion of the mount.

 

Yeah, I can find plenty of 1st gen 2.5 mounts. Same engine, but the engine bay is different I'm sure. The 3.9L ones do look very similar to the ones you posted, and I know they're different than 5.2/5.9 mounts. If there's a good return policy, grab 'em and check would be my guess.

 

Didn't XJ's come with the 2.5? I don't think the ZJ's did. Those would be the only 2 applications I could think of that would have any likeliness of being close.
