Exclamation p0340 issue

i have an 04 dakota 4.7L magnum V8 that sat while i was out of town from TG to Xmas when i came home i got a P0344 code for intermittent Cam position sensor bank 1
so i replaced the cam position sensor and now it starts and runs a little worse and gives me P0340 code cam position sensor failure
so tested wiring and power, 12.45 V from battery, getting voltage to sensor, ground checked good, and signal wire is good.
i currently believe it to be the PCM and so before i go spend the money, that i dont really have to spend, to replace it i want to confirm that it is the PCM. could it be the crank sensor is bad and so the cam sensor isnt agreeing? could it be the replacement cam sensor, if so how would i test that? im just trying to eliminate all other possibilities before spending $200-$400 on the replacement

Just to add, it seems like most of the aftermarket sensors have problems. Yes the Mopar parts are more expensive but you figure the one you are replacing was 13-14 years old...

Yep, not a surprise. These trucks just do NOT like aftermarket sensors.....
