Default PCM from 97-99 5 into a 2000?

Hey guys, quick question. Looking to do a manual trans swap into a 2000 RT and curious if a PCM from a 97-99 5.2 truck would work in the 2000 without major trouble? From all information I have gathered so far, if I took a 99 5.2 manual pcm and dropped it into the 99 RT, all would be well. If I am off, let me know, but trying to fill in gaps before I attempt. I have 2 V6 dakotas already, but want a fun driver! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

50% shot, but my gamble would be the 50% shot of "no". there was a communications buss change.

Just get your PCM flashed with a manual trans tune. Lot less headaches that way.

The bus change occurred in '01. But, there are programming differences between the model years.

Get your current one flashed.
