With the truck in 4x4, you can spin the front shaft by hand????? That just ain't a good sign......

Have you ever checked or changed the fluid in the front differential or transfer case?

Are the front wheels on the ground when you turn the front driveshaft in 2wd? If yes, the front diff is a goner.

If you can turn them it in 4wd with the wheels on the ground then both the t-case and diff have problems.
