Yeah, the upper mount can be fun. Start dousing it with chemicals NOW, so when you actually go to play with it, they have had some time to work.

I just hope that it's the actual cause, I'm being cautiously optimistic. At least I KNOW they need to be changed.

So was it both grinding and rattling? Cause the bushing would rattle, not grind. Sorry if I missed things you may have listed in between. I'm bad about sifting through threads.

Ehh... I said grinding as the thread title, which I can't change. It was more like a rumble and vibration. Rattle might be a good word, but it wasn't metallic or sharp sounding. I'll try to get an audio recording before swapping the shock.

EDIT: Well, can't complain about the shipping time... Ordered the shocks 2PM yesterday, delivered 1PM today. 23 hour turnover with the cheapest shipping. +1 for rock auto auto this time.

Both sides were completely blown, so it definitely was a required thing...

Here's some images of the shocks Yellow one was passenger, red one was driver. Driver side had 10mm bolts, passenger had 1/2" bolts, hmm...

Putting the new KYBs on almost leveled my truck, so I know the rears are likely blown as well. I've got low expectations on this actually fixing the issue, haven't done a full test drive yet, but I've never heard of bad shocks sounding like this. I still plan to (try) to get a better recording than the crap I got before. I also need to check the transmission mounts, it's warmed up, but naturally that means rain.

Now there is an interesting thought..... When under load, if you have some bad bushings in there somewhere, the suspension may deflect enough for parts to rub. One would think you would be able to see evidence of that though......

Went out at break to take a look at the transmission mount, it immediately began raining when I opened the door, good signs. Pulled it in the rear bay and tossed some cardboard under it to have a look. First thing I note is the two nuts on the mount studs, check them, one is loose. Tried to tighten by hand and it just clicks, grand, guys that rebuilt my transmission stripped the mount stud (along with a couple pan bolts... grumble, professionals...) Onto the mount itself, not lookin' too good fellas.

Ye ol' image dump

The rubber is soft, squishy, and shifted 5/8"-3/4" out of the passenger side. Anyone have experience changing this on a RWD? What are the torque specs, anywhere I can locate new nuts, and please tell me it can be swapped without dropping the crossmember...

Reminded how much I hate DHL... Ordered the transmission mount the day of my last post, Feb 4th. Is now the 13th and tracking is stuck at "tendered to delivery provider" and usps says "On its way to usps" for a week now. Stupid e-commerce crap :/ Rockauto why did you do this to me... Everything else has been via fedex and in good time....

Got the transmission mount changed out, hardest part was setting up and finding the stupid 18mm for the cross bolt. The transmission was sitting about ~3/4" or so to the right, had to gently nudge it over to get the new one to seat.

Here's a gallery of the mount

The rubber had completely unbonded from the metal and was free floating. With the mopar stamps and numbers on the rubber, this was a factory transmission mount. Why the guys who rebuilt my transmission (four times) didn't note/care/charge me to change it, I have no idea. $10 for the mount, $1.10 for two grade 8 M10x1.50 nuts and lock washers... Cautiously optimistic. If it doesn't fix it, it was at least something cheap and had to be done anyway. Will update this post after I get a drive in later.
