Hello everyone I am rebuilding the front suspension of my 4wd 99 dak. My question is do I put the torsion bars in the control arm first or the keys first? I have all new parts. Also does anybody know where to find new torsion swivels? I had to cut one of the bolts off. Thanks in advance
You put the torsion bar into the lower control arm and the anchor. Then you put the anchor and bearing into the crossmember, insert the bolt through them into the swivel.
Then tighten it required number of turns.

I will be trying this next week after getting new torsion bolts from a junkyard
Thanks everyone! It was the torsion key. It was off by one position. 🙄🙄🙄... yep I learned something new. Learned all about how torsion bars work.
Now... Im wondering what’s the stock ride height ? 😂..
Im at 37” from floor to fender on the driver side. 38” on passenger side. I called Dodge and they brushed me off. Im guessing 37” is right, but with the new suspension I’m not really sure.
THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE!
What position did you have your Torsion bars at when you finally solved the problem ? I’ve run into the same issue and I’ve tried a few different rotations and it’s still bottoming out on the front end.
Rotating the torsion bar itself won't change anything, you need to rotate the key on the end of the shaft, to give you more height.
could you explain abit more for me lol I’m having the same bottoming out problem and can’t seem to figure it out even after going through this thread sorry

The torsion bar is indexed on both ends. Ride height is controlled by a bolt thru a lever on the rear end of the torsion bar. (one on each side.) Turning the bolt IN raises ride height, turning the bolt OUT, lowers ride height. If you crank the bolt all the way in, and still aren't where you want to be, then you need to completely unload the suspension, loosen the bolt all the way, so there is zero load on the bar, take the torsion bar out, rotate it one hex, reinstall, then try and set ride height again. Its a trial and error process..... and can be rather time consuming.
You *might* be able to just rotate the lever on the end of the bar one hex, to get the adjustment you need....... worth a shot at least.
