I rented an enclosed trailer to move a tractor a couple hundred miles. Keeps everything in the trailer, and protects the stuff from inclement weather. Price difference was negligible.

Here's another vote for the trailer. Your truck may very well haul everything you want - and more - but I would not want to risk damaging the truck. just sayin.....

Thanks everyone, I ended up renting the 5x9 uhaul open trailer. My truck did great pulling it, no issues, and I'm glad I went with the trailer. Total full weight for trailer and truck was 7100 lbs, I still got 14 mpg going through the mountains! I figured I'd be below 10.

Just wondering, did you find some flats and have your wife drive while you sat on the bike? I've seen guys going down the road on a bike in the back of a truck like that before.
