Default Blower issue

The dreaded resistor issue again..I wanted to know if putting in another blower with a lower draw would help .I know putting the same stuff back in again new wont really solve the overdraw that seems common with these.
Would that be a option or a inline fuse maybe ? It has gone off then back on this time vs the no air. I will look at the controls also.
Any info is appreciated.

Usually that's a bad ground issue. I do believe the switch provides ground path.

It is possible tht that the blower motor is draing too much current. Bearings do dry up as they get older. You could check how many amps it is drawing.

As to the resistor, the connections are the weak spot. Did you replace the harness last time? Are the connections clean and tight.

As HeyYou says, the switch controls the ground side.

Yes it has
another new harnessan 3rd resistor ,I'll look at the grounds along with the switch but was wondering if lowering the amp draw with a different replacement blower that pulls less would be a better long term solution to what seems like a never ending issue for so many.
[mopar flaw ]
thanks.

Not sure you can find a motor that has less draw. Think I might be more tempted to upgrade the wiring.

Well putting a GOOD motor back in there should be less of a draw. The current draw increases as the motor deteriorates.

Yea I think it's the blower motor..I tested the resistor an it's suprisingly still good ..After I pulled the blower motor it hardly turned an was very stiff ,I guess its wore out.I lubed it just for testing an it ran again but weak. That burn mark on the 2nd lead is coming off the direct motor lead ..Its odd it didnt pop the resistor.
Im gonna replace it with a new blower .Are these blower motors likely to fail again if not a dealer motor [ I've seen many online replace
with a oem an oem resistor an it fails in a year...]

Also what amp fuse under the hood do these require? 30 or 40
thanks

It's a 40 amp fuse, you have an '01 right?

Nowadays you never know what you're getting when you buy a replacement. I'm not sure if the dealer even stocks that motor now.

What about trying a boneyard for a used one? It might be in better condition.

40 is in it ,i wondered because the diagram inside the cover is saying 30.
I may try a used one till i can be fully sure, though i never know if its on its last leg too.
What is the latest year dakota/durango that will work on the 01 ?
When looking at replacement how freely does it need to spin on the wheel?
Thanks

The wiring diagrams show a 40 amp.

'01 to '04 should be the same. Any GOOD boneyard will have an interchange manual.
It should spin smoothly without binding.
